August 20 Open House

Join us on August 20th from 12:00 noon until 3:00pm.
We will be featuring music of the 1850’s to include Stephen Foster tunes. Foster wrote such songs as “Old Folks At Home,” “My Old Kentucky Home,” “Oh! Susana” and “Old Black Joe”.
Donna McLarty plans to be costumed and represent Anna Covington as the ‘hostess’ of our event.
Refreshments will be available.
Covington House was reported to be the center of area gatherings in the 50’s and 60’s as Mr. and Mrs. Covington had brought a piano, a guitar and a violin with them from England. Folks gathered at their home in the Orchards area including visits from Ulysses S Grant who was stationed at Vancouver Barracks in the early 50’s.
